January 5, 2006 SIUC

Southern Illinois University Carbondale police are investigating the theft of a 4-week old Holstein calf that was stolen from the Dairy Farm holding pens on Christmas Eve night. Farm caretakers fed the calf at 4:30 p.m. on December 24, and found it missing at 8 a.m. on December 25, 2005 . Hoof prints indicate the calf was lead to a sidewalk adjacent to the holding pen.

The calf is described as a black female Holstein , 4 weeks old, wearing Tag #506, and is valued at $800. (Picture is of a registered Holstein calf, but is not a picture of the calf that was stolen.)

January 10, 2006 CPD

The City of Carbondale Police Department is investigating a Residential Burglary which occurred between 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, 12-22-05, and 5:50 p.m. on Sunday, 01-01-06, at 301 E. Jackson Street in Carbondale. An unknown person or persons forced open the rear door to the residence. Reported missing is a twenty-seven (27) inch flat screen Toshiba television with about a two and a half (2 ½) crack in the right speaker, a Sony DVD player, a Magnavox DVD player, a Samsung VCR, a Daewoo VCR, an Aiwa Stereo System, an X-Box, fifty (50) movies, a microscope, some silver jewelry and about twenty dollars ($20.00) in change . Total loss is estimated to be over $1,100.00. During a neighborhood canvass, a witness reported seeing black male, about 30 years old, 6‘03" tall, medium build, medium complexion, wearing a black trench coat, gray hooded sweatshirt (hood was pulled up on his head) . The witness saw the male standing at the rear door of the victim’s residence on 12-31-05 between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. The witness saw the suspect later walking north away from the residence while carrying two large duffel bags.

January 18, 2006 SIUC

Southern Illinois University Carbondale police are investigating the burglary and criminal damage to property of eleven coin vending machines located in the following buildings: Life Science II, Rehn Hall, Lawson Hall, Wham, Faner Hall, Communications, Engineering, and Neckers Buildings .. The burglaries occurred between December 12, 2005 and January 10, 2006 . All of the vending machines and some attached card readers were extensively damaged and had visible pry marks. Damage/replacement of the machines was estimated at $12,440.

January 25, 2006 CPD

The City of Carbondale Police Department is investigating a series of thefts that occurred during the early morning hours onTuesday 01-17-06 in the area of Reed Station Road and Sweets Drive in Carbondale.

Southern Illinois Pipefitting Contractors at 1100 N. Reed Station Road reports license plates stolen from a company vehicle that were later recovered. Interstate Auto at 2295 Sweets Dr. reports a pickup truck was stolen. The truck was later recovered on Clayton Road. A second vehicle was entered with no sign of force, but damage was done inside. Three (3) horse trailers were stolen. Southern Illinois Motor Sports at 2145 Sweets Dr. reports a truck was forcibly entered and the steering column was damaged. A storage trailer was broken into and some ATVs were stolen. JS Corvettes at 2125 Sweets Dr. reports a business truck had a window broken out and the steering column damaged.

Some evidence and property was recovered.


February 10, 2006

On 02-08-06 at approximately 9:00 a.m., the City of Carbondale Police Department responded to Phillips Pro Cycle, 2265 Sweets Drive, in reference to a burglary. The owner of the business reported that two storage sheds had been forcibly entered sometime between 10:00 p.m., 02-07-06 and 08:30 a.m., 02-08-06.

The following items were taken from the sheds:

- 2005 E-TON RXL-90R Viper 90 Reverse ATV - Blue
- 2005 E-TON RXL-50M Viper 50 Mini ATV - Blue
- 1980 Kawasaki KZ1000 LTD - Black
- 1978 Kawasaki KZ1000 - Black
- Honda 2500 Generator - Red
- Kawasaki KZ750 motorcycle engine

February 16, 2006 SIUC

The Southern Illinois University Police Department is investigating several reports of offices entered after hours and items removed or damaged from desks in Faner Hall. The incidents were reported on February 7 (1 office) and on February 10 (3 offices). Some of the desks were unlocked, and others were pried open, including a copier.

The following items were taken or damaged: Cash (coins); Letter opener; Memory sticks (2); and locks. No value has been assessed at this time.

February 28, 2006 SIUC

The Southern Illinois University Police Department is investigating a residential burglary from a resident’s room in University Hall, 1101 S. Wall Street , during the evening of Saturday, February 25, 2006 .

A black and silver Toshiba laptop computer valued at $1,000 was stolen between 10:30 and 11:45 p.m. when the owner left the room without locking the door. The power cord was left behind. The owner informed officers that unknown person(s) have been trying door handles recently.

This is the fourth report of a laptop being stolen from a residential area on campus within the past few days. Academic buildings have just begun reporting additional thefts. The Department of Public Safety is asking all building occupants to lock their doors and to report any suspicious persons, especially persons trying door handles.


March 14, 2006

The Southern Illinois University Police Department is investigating an Auto Burglary from Lot 102 (Glove Factory) that occurred Friday, March 10, 2006 between the hours of 8:00 P.M. and 11:00 P.M.

The victim’s locked Toyota truck was entered without any signs of force. Taken were a black backpack which contained a Gateway laptop computer, one library book titled “Making the Land”, and two MFA sketch books. The items are valued in excess of $2100.00.

There are no suspects at this time.

March 28, 2006

The Southern Illinois University Police Department is investigating a Criminal Damage to Government Supported Property report that occurred Friday, March 24, 2006 at approximately 1:25 a.m. at the main entrance of Kellogg Hall. The front window of the residence hall was completely broken and damage is estimated in excess of $1500.00.

At the time of the incident, witnesses report one white male leaving the area in a smaller black, four-door vehicle, possibly a Dodge Neon, with a rear spoiler. Witnesses also saw a second white male, wearing a dark colored hat, white long sleeve shirt, and blue jeans, walk away from the area and enter the rear entrance of Kellogg Hall.


April 10, 2006

The Southern Illinois University Police Department is investigating a Theft from Motor Vehicle report that occurred Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at approximately 5:14 a.m. in Lot 106, which is located at 1200 S. Wall Street . Stolen from a vehicle were four 20 inch chrome Limited Style 850 rims, valued at $1700.00, and four tires (unknown make), size 245/35/20, valued at $800.00. Total valued of the theft is $2500.00.

At approximately 4:54 A.M. , surveillance cameras detected a light colored vehicle, possibly a Ford Taurus, enter the lot and proceed to the area of the victim’s vehicle. Two male subjects, one identified as a white male and the other of unknown race, exited the vehicle. One began removing the wheels while the other served as a look-out. Once the wheels were removed, the suspect vehicle was backed up to the victim vehicle and the wheels and tires were loaded into the trunk. The suspect vehicle then left the area. April 10, 2006

The Southern Illinois University Police Department is investigating two separate Reckless Condcut reports. The first occurred Thursday, April 13, 2006 at approximately 2:35 a.m., at the main entrance to Allen Hall III. The second occurred Friday, April 15, 2006 at approximately 2:37 a.m. in the hallway of the eighth floor of the Mae Smith residence hall.

The first incident involved a pile of trash being set fire in the foyer area on the even side entrance of Allen Hall III. Smoke filled the first floor of the building activating the fire alarm resulting in the evacuation of the building. Damage was to the floor area and was estimated at approximately $150.00. The second incident involved a bulletin board being set fire in the center hallway of the eighth floor of Mae Smith Hall. Smoke also caused the activation of the fire alarm resulting in the evacuation of the building as well. Damage was to the bulletin board and was estimated at approximately $235.00.

No one was injured in either incident.


May 08, 2006

The Southern Illinois University Police Department is investigating a Theft report of a lap top computer and cell phone that occurred on Thursday, April 27, 2006 between the hours of 3:30 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. in the Study Lounge on the second floor of the Student Center .

At approximately 3:30 p.m. , the victim left her computer, a silver Medion laptop, valued at approximately $1400.00, in the Study Lounge on the second floor of the Student Center . When she returned at approximately 5:45 p.m. , the computer was gone. The computer was in a black carry case and also contained the victim’s silver and black Verizon K-7 Rave Kyocera cell phone, which is valued at approximately $200.00. Total value of the theft is approximately $1600.00. The computer is German made with the keyboard in German and the Y and Z keys turned around.

Witnesses report seeing a black male, approximately 5’10” tall, medium build, with black hair wearing a black leather coat and blue sunglasses, leave the Study Lounge with an item under his jacket and wires hanging from under his coat. Student Center surveillance cameras captured video of two subjects that match the description of the suspect during the time frame of the theft. See photographs below of the two possible suspects.

May 22, 2006

The Southern Illinois University Police Department is investigating a Burglary report of a credit card and Illinois State I.D. card that occurred on Thursday, May 9, 2006 at approximately 5:00 p.m. from room 113B in the Engineering Building .

At approximately 5:00 p.m., the victim entered her office to find a black male subject looking through a bag of items sitting on the chair. The subject said that he was supposed to be meeting someone on the third floor and gave the victim a name that was not recognized. The victim informed him that he was on the first floor, gave him directions to the third floor, and the subject left the office. The victim later discovered that her credit card and state I.D. were missing.

The suspect is described as a dark skinned black male, 25 to 30 years of age, approximately 6’00” tall, medium build with short black hair last seen wearing a red shirt.


June 05, 2006

The Southern Illinois University Police Department is investigating a Credit Card Fraud report that occurred on Friday, May 12, 2006 after 12:30 p.m. from an unknown location on the campus of SIUC.

At approximately 12:30 p.m. , the victim remembered last using her credit card at the Student Recreation Center and placing it back into her purse. On May 18 th, 2006 , the victim discovered her credit card missing and contacted her financial institution to report the card as lost or stolen. She was informed that her credit card had been used on Friday, May 12, 2006 at approximately 3:38 p.m. at Hucks on Illinois Route 13 in Carterville , IL to make a purchase of $45.38. The suspects were caught on video surveillance tape.

The suspects are three black males and were seen driving an early model two-tone light blue or light colored four door vehicle, possibly a Buick, Oldsmobile or Cadillac. Suspect #1, the driver of the vehicle, is described as a medium to dark skinned black male with short black hair wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans. Suspect #2 is described as a medium skinned black male wearing a black hat turned backwards, a purple and orange basketball jersey with “EAST” and the number 17 on the front along with the number 17 and some unknown name above the number on the reverse, and blue jeans. Suspect #3, the user of the credit card, is described as a very light skinned black male with a long braided pony tail wearing a dark colored hat covered in logos, long sleeve gray shirt with writing on the front and back, stonewash jeans, dark shoes, and gold chain around the neck.

June 19, 2006

The Southern Illinois University Police Department is investigating two Burglary reports that occurred from offices in A-wing of Faner Hall.

The first Burglary occurred on, Wednesday, June 14, 2006 between 5:50 P.M. and 8:25 P.M. from room 3130 Faner Hall. The victim left his office and upon his return, discovered that his black and silver Samsung cellular telephone, valued at approximately $150.00, had been stolen. He called his cellular telephone and a female voice answered the phone and then hung up. The second Burglary occurred after 4:00 P.M. on Monday, June 19, 2006 and before 7:30 A.M. on Tuesday, June 20, 2006 from room 2131 Faner hall. The victim left his office for the evening and upon his return the next morning discovered his Sony Notebook computer, valued at approximately $1900.00, was missing.

There were no signs of force to either office.


July 17, 2006

The Southern Illinois University Police Department is investigating a Residential Burglary report that occurred at 1650 S. Logan Drive , 123-1 Southern Hills.

Between the hours of 6:00 P.M. on Monday, July 3 rd and 10:00 P.M. on Friday, July 07, 2006 , someone entered the victim’s locked apartment at 123-1 Southern Hills. The victim discovered that her 42 inch Ilo flat screen television, valued at approximately $2300.00, silver Apex DVD player, valued at approximately $40.00, and home theater surround sound stereo, unknown make or model, valued at approximately $60.00, had been stolen. The approximately cost of the items was $2400.00. There was nothing else missing from the apartment but the victim did say that several of her dresser drawers had also been opened.

There were no signs of force to the apartment and there are no suspects at this time.

July 31, 2006

The Southern Illinois University Police Department is investigating an Unlawful Use of Weapons/Armed Violence report that occurred on Tuesday, July 25 th, 2006 at approximately 9:00 p.m. at 1255 Lincoln Drive , in front of the SIUC Student Center .

At approximately 9:00 p.m. on July 25 th, 2006 , a black male, later identified as TEAK OMAR C. CAMPBEL, used his fist and struck the victim in the face after an argument. CAMPBELL backed away and then lifted his shirt displaying a black semi-automatic handgun in his waistband. The victim then left the area as did CAMPBELL, who was driving a silver 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport, IL registration G736255, which is registered to his girlfriend in Anna , IL . CAMPBELL ’S location is unknown at this time. Detectives are seeking information on the whereabouts of CAMPBELL at this time. CAMPBELL is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.

September 11, 2006

The Southern Illinois University Carbondale Police Department is investigating a Forcible Burglary report that occurred between 6:00 p.m. Sunday, September 10, 2006 and 7:47 a.m. Monday, September 11, 2006 from 1455 Douglas Drive , which is the Administrative Building at the SIUC Safety Center , and from an outside storage shed. Stolen were two computers from the Administrative Building and one VCR from the storage shed. Total value of the Burglary is estimated at approximately $3300.00

Entry was believed to have been gained by breaking a window on the southeast side of the Administrative building. Once inside two Dell computers and monitors were taken. An unknown make and model VCR was also taken from the storage shed.

There are no suspects at this time.

 

 


October 23, 2006

The Southern Illinois University Carbondale Police Department is investigating an Assault report that occurred on Friday, October 20, 2006 , at approximately 3:06 a.m. on the footbridge south of Lot 106 near Wright Hall.

The victim said that he was approached by two males who engaged in conversation with him on the footbridge. The first male, described as a black male, approximately 6’00” tall, weighing approximately 180 pounds, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, attempted to strike the victim but the victim moved out of the way and pushed the black male to the side. The other male, described as a white male, thin build with blonde hair wearing a red shirt, charged at the victim who again moved away pushing the white male to the side. The two suspects then ran away and were last seen running towards Lot 14.

The victim was not injured.


November 06, 2006

The Southern Illinois University Carbondale Police Department is investigating a Residential Burglary that occurred Thursday, November 02, 2006 , between 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. from a room at University Hall.

The victim said that when he left his room, he thought he had locked it, but there were no signs of force. Upon returning, he found that someone had entered his room and broken into a metal safe that was locked. There were signs of pry marks on the safe. Taken from inside the safe was a silver chain with two dog tags, one diamond earring, a Louis Vuitton watch with a stainless steel face and brown leather band, a Swiss stainless steel watch, and a brown leather Louis Vuitton wallet containing the victim’s driver’s license, state I.D. card, credit cards, etc. The victim also lost an undisclosed amount of cash. The approximate amount of the stolen items is $1500.00

Witnesses reported seeing two groups of black males in the area at different times acting suspicious. The first two black males were approximately 5’7” tall, 160 pounds, short black hair, and with goatees. One was wearing a black jacket and gray hat. The second group was three black males approximately 5’7” to 5’8” tall weighing approximately 150 to 160 pounds. One of the black males had short black hair and was also wearing a white t-shirt and had a goatee. Another was wearing a black jacket and a gray hat and there was no clothing description for the third black male.

There are no suspects at this time.

November 20, 2006

The Southern Illinois University Carbondale Police Department is investigating a Residential Burglary that occurred between 11:50 p.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2006 , and 9:00 a.m. on Friday, November 17, 2006 from a room at Schneider Hall.

The victim said that while he slept in his room, someone entered the room and took his SIUC Credit Union debit card from his wallet. The card was later used to pay a Sprint PCS phone bill in the amount of $274.00.

There were no signs of force to the door and the victim thinks that the door was locked at the time of the theft.

There are no suspects at this time.


December 04, 2006

The Southern Illinois University Carbondale Police Department is investigating a Residential Burglary that occurred between 2:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 28, 2006 , from a room on the 16 th floor of Schneider Hall.

The victims said that while they slept in their room, someone entered the room and took their wallets and their room key. One of the wallets contained $180.00 in cash while the other contained a debit card.

There were no signs of force to the door since the door was unlocked at the time of the theft.

There are no suspects at this time.

December 14, 2006 CPD

The City of Carbondale Police Department is investigating an Armed Robbery that happened Thursday December 7th, 2006 at about 10:50 a.m., at the Cash Store (401 E Walnut in Carbondale).

The suspect entered the Cash Store through the east door, displayed a silver semi-automatic handgun and took cash register tills containing an undisclosed amount of currency from the employees. The suspect was last seen running southwest from the store.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately  5'08"to 5'10", wearing a black ski mask, dark colored jacket or sweatshirt with a hood and dark colored pants.

Some evidence was collected.
