The Southern Illinois University Carbondale Police Department is investigating two Thefts and Unlawful Use of Credit/Debit Card reports that occurred on Tuesday, December 5, 2006 between 8:45 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. The first took place from Rhen Hall and the second from Wheeler Hall. In the first incident, the victim said that his wallet was stolen from his coat while in his office. Inside the wallet were his personal identification, $250.00 in cash, and several credit cards. In the second incident, the victim said that several of her credit cards and a set of keys were stolen from her purse while in her office. In both incidents, the credit cards were used on the same day of the theft at Macy’s, Menard’s, Shell Station, Office Depot, Target, and Wal-Mart in the Carbondale and Marion , IL area along with being used in the Paducah , KY area as well. A similar incident on the same date occurred at John A. Logan with those stolen credit cards being used at the same places. A suspect, a black male, bald, wearing a tan sport coat, light colored shirt, and light colored dress pants, was caught on video from surveillance cameras. The suspect also signed his first name as “Fred” on all receipts. The victim in the second incident at SIUC described this black male as a person she saw in the building just prior to the theft. February 12, 2007The Southern Illinois University Carbondale Police Department is investigating a Residential Burglary report from a residence in Kellogg Hall that occurred between 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 10, and 9:00 p.m. , Sunday, February 11, 2007 . The victims said that they left their locked room Saturday morning and when they returned Sunday evening, they noticed several items missing from their room. Stolen from the room was a white Apple iBook G-4 laptop computer, Verizon cell phone, book bag with three text books, X-Box 360 with five controllers, a Sony PS# play station with three controllers, eleven X-Box games, X-Box remote, two PS3 games, a PSP Player with power cord, two DVD’s, and three text books. Total valued of the items is in excess of $2000.00. There were no signs of force to the room. There are no suspects at this time. February 12, 2007The Southern Illinois University Carbondale Police Department is investigating a Residential Burglary report from a residence in Neely Hall that occurred between 6:20 p.m. and 6:25 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2007 . The victim said that she left her room without closing the door for approximately five minutes. When she returned, she found that her room key and a Sony Digital Camera, model DSC-W50, valued at $200.00, had been stolen. There are no suspects at this time. March 10, 2007On Saturday, March 10, 2007 at approximately 11:50 a.m., The City of Carbondale Police Department responded to the Cash Store, 600 S. University Ave in Carbondale, in reference to an attempted Robbery. Upon arrival officers spoke to an employee of the Cash Store who reported seeing a black male, approximately 5'09" tall, medium build, wearing a dark hooded jacket and ski mask, walk past the east window, heading toward the east side entrance. The suspect attempted to pull the door open but it was locked. The suspect fled south from the area. March 26, 2007The Southern Illinois University Carbondale Police Department is investigating a Residential Burglary report from a residence on the 3 rd floor of Mae Smith Hall that occurred between 5:20 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2007 . The victim said that he had left the room prior to his room mate. The victim received a telephone call from a friend telling him that his room was unlocked. The victim called the room mate to lock the door. However, when the victim returned home, he discovered that his Xbox 360 and two controllers were missing. He also discovered two Akademik shirts, two pair Akademik pants, two LRG brand shirts; one was black and white with Panda bears, and two LRG brand pants; one with a Panda bear on the pocket. Total value of the items is in excess of $800.00. There are no suspects at this time. May
June 04, 2007The Southern Illinois University Carbondale Police Department is investigating a series of 5 incidents of counterfeit currency that have occurred between May 08th and May 29th, 2007 . Three counterfeit five dollar bills, serial number FC08093018A, were passed at the Student Recreation Center and two at the Student Center McDonald’s, on or around May 8th and May 11th. A counterfeit ten dollar bill, serial number GE37879140A, was passed at the Parking Division on or around May 22nd, and a counterfeit twenty dollar bill, serial number EK20319480B, was passed at the Student Center check cashing on or around May 29th. A heavy set white male in his early twenties with a beard wearing a punk rock shirt tried to pass the $5.00 bill at the McDonalds while a black female with long black hair in a pony tail with the right side of her nose pierced wearing designer blue jeans, fake nails with blue sequins, and flip flops passed the other $5.00 bill at McDonalds. There are no other suspects at this time. July 16, 2007The Southern Illinois University Carbondale Police Department is investigating a Burglary that occurred from Quigley Hall between 4:00 p.m. on July 3 rd and 8:15 a.m. July 5 th, 2007 . Someone entered the office area of the basement of Quigley Hall and stole two computers. The first computer was a Dell D820 Laptop valued at approximately $1700.00. The second computer was a Dell Optiplex 745 desktop computer, 19 inch monitor and a set of speakers valued at approximately $1600.00. There was no signs of force and the total value of the stolen items is over $3300.00. There are no suspects at this time.
