March 16, 2009The Southern Illinois University Carbondale Police Department is investigating a Burglary that occurred from SIUC Headstart located at 1200 N. Illinois Avenue between 6:45 p.m. on Sunday, March 01, 2009 and 7:30 a.m. Monday, March 02, 2009 . Entry was gained into the administrative building by forcing open the door. Once inside the building another door was forced open and a Dell Latitude D505 laptop, valued at over $1700.00, was taken. Several drawers and cabinets had also been entered. Also taken from the building was a Hewlett-Packard DeskJet 450 printer, a Kodak Easy Share digital camera and docking station, and a Sentry Fire safe which contained computer files.. The value of the stolen items is in excess of $2300.00. There are no suspects at this time. March 30, 2009The Southern Illinois University Carbondale Police Department is investigating a Residential Burglary that occurred from a room on the fourth floor of Allen I between 1:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2009. Non-forcible entry was gained into the unlocked room and once inside one black and silver Toshiba laptop computer, one black and silver ASUS laptop computer, one pink iPod nano, one black Sansa MP3 player that had a red biohazard sticker, one set of headphones, and one blue mesh wallet with black trim containing the victims drivers license and miscellaneous papers were taken from the room. The value of the stolen items is in excess of $2100.00. There are no suspects at this time. May
June 04, 2008The Carbondale Police Department is investigating a Theft that occurred from 119 N. Washington (Tres Hombres Restaurant) on the evening of May 26th, 2008. Upon arrival, officers learned that a male had entered the restaurant and stolen a bank bag containing an undisclosed amount of currency and credit card receipts. The suspect fled on foot out the west side door of the restaurant. The bag was described as a blue, zippered vinyl bank bag with "Night Rest" written in black marker. The male was described as wearing a gray hooded sweat shirt, white t-shirt and khaki pants. During the course of the investigation, the suspect has been identified as Kelly R. Hart, a 41 year old male from Marion. Hart currently has a Williamson County warrant for his arrest for Aggravated Battery. Below is a photograph of Hart. June 16, 2008The Carbondale Police Department is investigating a Burglary that occurred between 12:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 15, 2008 at 405 S. Washington (Italian Village Restaurant). Upon arrival, officers learned that suspects had entered the restaurant through the roof causing damage to the business. Once inside it appears that nothing had been taken. August 30, 2009The Southern Illinois University Carbondale Police Department is investigating a Motor Vehicle Theft report from SIUC Lot 1, which is located near Lawson Hall that occurred between 11:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. August 27, 2009 . The victim parked the vehicle prior to going to work in Lot 1 and when he returned approximately seven (7) hours later he found his vehicle missing. The vehicle is a silver 4 door, 2002 Mazda 626, Illinois license 5064860. The value of the vehicle is unknown at this time. The Southern Illinois University Carbondale Police Department is investigating a Theft of a Dell Laptop computer from the SIUC Student Center. The theft occurred on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at approximately 9:30 a.m. on the 1st Floor near Starbucks. The laptop was inside of a black sling bag. The victim left the laptop on a table and went to the restroom. When the victim returned his laptop and sling bag was missing. The value of the Dell laptop computer was in excess of $300.00. There are no suspects at this time.
